Tedder attended public schools in Polk County and graduated from Lakeland Senior High School. Durrance also served in the Third Seminole War in a militia unit and was a member of a Confederate Civil War volunteer detachment stationed at Fort Meade in July-August, 1861. Hobson Strain was born December 5, 1932, in Polk County, Florida and currently lives in Lakeland with his second wife, Sue Goodrich.
